Escaping Reality

Escaping Reality

9th October, 2017

In its run-time of two minutes, Escaping Reality transitions between three very distinct emotions.

Beginning with mournful longing, it ascends into a victorious techno-like melody before coming to rest after a tense, chase-like mood accentuated by elements of dubstep.

As with The Prodigal Son prior, Escaping Reality too was created as part of a recent attendance at a Film Scoring Institute.

The Prodigal Son

The Prodigal Son

29th August, 2017

Caleb ventures beyond his usual medley of electronic sounds to establish a Middle Eastern atmosphere in The Prodigal Son.

Created during a recent attendance at a Film Scoring Institute for a five-minute clip on the Biblical parable of the same name, the track's Arabian melody is played on a ney flute whenever important moments or dialogues occur.

Two dance-like sections mark the son's frivolous life and his return respectively, while the dark waltz at the end is a representation of his brother's envy.

Other instruments used include the lute, along with a blend of middle eastern scale and western harmonies.

If you've enjoyed all five minutes of the composition and are interested in using the same or a derivative, use the contact form to reach Caleb with your request.

21st June, 2017

Caleb developed the string-based loop of Mystical Darkness as a demonstration of his ability to create dark, ominous sounds for a game developer client.

Foreboding Shame | Fall of The Springs

15th August, 2016

Foreboding Shame is slated to loop during two very specific portions of upcoming independent game Fall of The Springs.

As Caleb recalls, the developer's vision for the track was as so -- 'This is for a place barely visited in-game -- the Springs' leader's spaceship that hovers above the rest of the world. '

'It's supposed to feel foreboding, while also being quiet and a bit sad to reflect the unnatural personality of the leader.'

Indeed, the spaceship will appear during both the beginning of the game and at its climax -- conjuring emotions of dread prior.

Foreboding Shame is Caleb's third contribution to the OST of Fall of The Springs, an upcoming narrative centred on a planet headed for destruction.

Bio

8677010

Caleb Cuzner developed an interest in video game programming at a young age. This however was quick to translate into music composition for his own games and those made by others, which eventually led him to discover a passion for composition greater than that for video game programming.

Now, music composition is not only his hobby but also his career; From 2008 to 2013 and from 2015 to present, the majority of his music composing work has been coordinated through a composing service at the Game Maker Community forums.

He has also written music for several productions coordinated through Newgrounds, Facebook, personal contacts, and various independent websites, where he is known as either Caleb Cuzner or Nijg.

He spends countless hours perfecting his art, and is always in the process of improving the quality of his work. Those in appreciation of his craft can support him by leaving donations, helping purchase higher quality composing equipment, supporting him at Brigham Young University, or just saying thanks.
